Merck for Mothers Leadership Announcement

It is with mixed feelings I announce that Dr. Priya Agrawal has accepted a position leading our Vaccines and Women's Health business unit within the United Kingdom. A feeling of sadness to see her go, and yet happiness to see her extending her career boundaries.

Priya joined the Merck for Mothers team in 2012, from academia. She was new to the industry and I had the fortunate opportunity to see her adapt and grow over the years into a valuable member and leader of our team. Her energy, conscientious work ethic and professionalism will be missed. We have been fortunate to have had her propel our efforts for our company’s signature initiative, Merck for Mothers, to a whole new level of impact.

Partnering with Merck colleagues and external organizations around the world, Priya led the design, launch and execution of 50 Merck for Mothers programs in over 30 countries with 75 partners, which have already proven to increase the quality of maternal health services and access to modern contraceptives for 6 million women worldwide. Her effective advocacy with professional associations and national governments means that many of these catalytic investments in health systems will be scaled and sustained over the years.

While we will miss Priya, we are excited that she is taking on this important role and know that she will bring the same passion and enthusiasm that has enabled so much of the success of Merck for Mothers to her new position. And, we know that Priya will continue to be an advocate in the fight against maternal mortality as she moves on to this next step in her career.

On behalf of the global Merck for Mothers team, I would like to thank Priya for her leadership and contributions to the advancement of our important work reducing global maternal mortality. Her last day with our team will be August 31, 2016, and information about her replacement will be the subject of a future announcement.

Best regards,

Dr. Naveen Rao
Lead, Merck for Mothers
