New Report: Transformational Impact: Scaling and Sustaining High Impact Maternal Health Solutions

A new report from Merck highlights six social investments, funded through Merck for Mothers, and their paths toward impact, scale and sustainability to help reduce maternal mortality. The report highlights solutions that have demonstrated transformational impact on maternal health in vastly different contexts – from small private clinics in Maharashtra, India to a major hospital system in Bahia, Brazil.

Now Accepting Nominations for the 2023 Kenneth C. Frazier Award for Maternal Health Equity

We are now accepting nominations for the third annual Kenneth C. Frazier Award for Maternal Health Equity. The award is in recognition of the legacy and commitment to maternal health by Kenneth C. Frazier, our company's retired chairman and CEO. Merck for Mothers will bestow a new organization with this grant in recognition of their commitment to, and progress toward, more equitable, high-quality maternal health care.

New Grant Mechanism Seeks Applications for Scaling Postpartum Hemorrhage Medicines

Despite advances in evidence-based interventions and updated recommendations to improve clinical practice, progress to meet the Sustainable Development Goal 3.1 target to reduce the maternal mortality ratio has stagnated in the past decade. Severe bleeding after childbirth, or postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), has been and remains the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. To help address this issue, the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition Maternal Health Caucus has announced a new small grants mechanism, co-funded through Merck for Mothers and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), to increase access to new and lesser-used medications capable of preventing and treating PPH. The goal is to provide funding for government-endorsed, catalytic activities to introduce and scale these new PPH medicines in low- and lower-middle income countries.
